What’s coming up soon …

Tomorrow evening (Wednesday 17th April) I will be going into Castle Mead Radio Station in Hinckley and having a chat with Stephen Brooks….gulp.

Stephen’s already been round to say all the right things and calm my nerves, but I am still going to have to take a few deep breaths on the walk in!

Beauty and Utility Arts is now a proud sponsor of Stephen’s Motown and Soul show, currently on Wednesdays from 5pm and we’re looking forward to sharing our news and current project updates with the local community and hospital patients. Listen live tomorrow at http://www.castlemeadradio.co.uk/ and tell me what you think of the two songs I’ve picked.

So …. that’s all a bit nerve wracking, but the next bit is exciting!

One of the things I’ll be talking to Stephen about is the Back on Track Rally through Europe I’m doing from 31st August to 8th September in aid of Combat Stress, the UKs leading mental health charity specialising in the treatment and support of British Armed Forces Veterans who have mental health problems. www.backontrackrally.co.uk

We’ll be driving 1700 miles through Paris, Djon, Lyon, Monaco, Genoa, Milan, Zurich, Nancy and Reims … eeeek!

Cars and driving has always been a passion of mine and when my late Dad was around I spent a good number of years in the late nineties working with him and his company. In fact, the first time I ever drove on a motorway was on the way back from the docks in Liverpool where we’d gone to collect some new Nissans and see a transporter loaded up. Two of them needed to make there way back down to Birmingham so off I went, following him in a car I’d never driven before. If I remember correctly his words of encouragement included something along the lines of “get on with it.”

After having had a quick email and social media chat with some of the other entrants everybody’s been really encouraging (even when they found out what car I’m taking) and I already can’t wait to go. So, if you have a few pounds spare, please sponsor the trip and Combat Stress at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=backontrack and leave a little message for me and my car .. beep beep.
